Specific Requirements
- Two completed Six Sigma projects with signed affidavits, or one completed project with a signed affidavit plus three years of on-the-job experience in one or more areas of the CSSBB Body of Knowledge.
- The project affidavit form must be downloaded from ASQ, completed and submitted with the application.
- There is no formal degree requirement and no requirement to hold a Green Belt first.
- ASQ membership is not required, but members save $100 on the initial examination fee.
- Your application must be approved before you can schedule. ASQ reviews online applications in one to two business days, and if you do not meet the requirements you receive a refund minus a $130 processing fee.
Number of Questions
165 questions computer delivered, of which 150 are scored and 15 are unscored. The paper and pencil version is 150 questions.
Duration
Computer delivered: total appointment time four and a half hours, with exam time of 4 hours and 18 minutes. Paper and pencil: four hours.

Multiple choice, measuring comprehension of the Body of Knowledge, Questions are written to a stated maximum cognitive level per topic, from Understand through Apply, Analyze and Evaluate
Passing Requirement
550 points out of a possible 750 on ASQ's scaled score. ASQ uses criterion-referenced scoring and does not report scaled scores to candidates who pass.
How It Is Delivered
Computer-based testing through Prometric in defined testing windows, including remote proctored online delivery. A paper and pencil version is offered in certain locations.
